Tôm càng xanh (TCX) là đối tượng thu hút đông người dân vùng nước ngọt tham gia canh tác. Tuy nhiên, khả năng cung cấp giống còn thiếu và chất lượng con giống chưa được quan tâm đúng mức, đang là trở ngại để loài này phát triển hơn nữa.
Ông Như Văn Cẩn, Phó Giám đốc Sở NN&PTNT Đồng Tháp: Nghề nuôi TCX ở Đồng Tháp nói riêng, ĐBSCL nói chung còn nhiều tiềm năng phát triển, nhưng đang phải đối diện nhiều khó khăn. Để nghề nuôi TCX vươn xa hơn, sẽ còn nhiều vấn đề cần giải quyết, nhưng nhu cầu con giống là cấp thiết nhất.

Con giống thiếu - sản xuất yếu

Theo Tổng cục Thủy sản, năm 2014 nhu cầu con giống TCX 1,8 - 2 tỷ con. Hiện nay, đã sinh sản nhân tạo thành công giống TCX nhưng quy trình sản xuất giống còn chưa ổn định, phụ thuộc rất lớn vào thời tiết; nguồn tôm bố mẹ chưa chủ động được, phần lớn cơ sở sản xuất giống chưa chủ động nuôi vỗ và chọn lọc giống tôm bố mẹ đạt chuẩn để sản xuất; nguồn tôm bố mẹ đa phần được thu gom từ các ao nuôi tôm thương phẩm chưa đạt tiêu chuẩn chất lượng tôm bố mẹ. Theo đó, khả năng cung cấp giống tại chỗ mới đáp ứng được 45 - 50% nhu cầu thả nuôi. Ông Nguyễn Thanh Vũ, Trung tâm Quốc gia Giống thủy sản nước ngọt Nam bộ (Viện Nghiên cứu Nuôi trồng Thủy sản II) chia sẻ: “Nuôi TCX nhiều thuận lợi hơn so với các đối tượng nuôi khác, bởi cần ít vốn đầu tư, ít rủi ro, giá khá ổn định; kỹ thuật nuôi đơn giản, có thể áp dụng ở nhiều quy mô (nuôi trong mương vườn, nuôi trong ao thâm canh và bán thâm canh, nuôi ghép với đối tượng cá khác, nuôi trong đăng quầng, nuôi trong ruộng lúa). Tuy nhiên, hiện nay thiếu con giống và chất lượng con giống chưa được đảm bảo khiến TCX chưa thể phát triển tương xứng tiềm năng hiện có, cũng như góp phần phát triển bền vững nghề nuôi tại các địa phương ĐBSCL”.

Cần nhiều hơn nữa

Hướng đến việc tạo ra con giống tốt, tăng năng suất vụ nuôi, Viện Nghiên cứu Nuôi trồng Thủy sản II đang thực hiện song song hai chương trình. Đó là chọn giống TCX dài hạn nhằm cải thiện tốc độ tăng trưởng (bắt đầu từ năm 2010) và tăng tỷ lệ sống của tôm (bắt đầu từ năm 2014); Đồng thời, nghiên cứu sản xuất đại trà tôm toàn đực (bắt đầu từ năm 2005, trước đây sử dụng kỹ thuật vi phẫu và sau này bổ sung kỹ thuật tiêm sợi đôi iRNA cho tôm hậu ấu trùng 10 - 25 ngày tuổi). Hy vọng hai chương trình này sẽ góp phần phát triển nghề nuôi TCX ở nước ta.

Để TCX đáp ứng đủ nhu cầu tiêu thụ nội địa, hướng đến xuất khẩu thì việc đẩy mạnh sản xuất con giống, trong đó cần ứng dụng kết quả nghiên cứu gia hóa, chọn lọc để cung cấp đàn tôm bố mẹ đảm bảo chất lượng cho các trại sản xuất giống của tỉnh; khuyến khích các doanh nghiệp đầu tư xây dựng trại sản xuất giống chất lượng để cung cấp cho người nuôi… Đồng thời, người nuôi nên mua giống của các cơ sở sản xuất/kinh doanh uy tín và giống có nguồn gốc rõ ràng. Đó cũng chính là những giải pháp nhằm phát triển bền vững nghề nuôi TCX.

>> Theo Tổng cục Thủy sản: Năm 2013, cả nước có hơn 20 tỉnh, thành nuôi tôm càng xanh với tổng diện tích 12.299 ha. Trong đó ĐBSCL 12.250 ha. Tập trung chủ yếu tại các tỉnh: Bến Tre, Đồng Tháp, Bạc Liêu, Trà Vinh.

JSC Corporation Minh Phu Seafood (Ming Phu Seafood Corp), in the first 6 months of 2013 has exported 14.45 thousand tonnes of shrimp worth USD 175.3 million, equal to 96.53% of the volume quantity and 97.92% in value compared with the same period last year.

According to customs, Vietnam exported shrimp 6 months increased 8.6%, reaching over $ 1.1 billion, the main markets like Japan, the US, China and Canada are encouraging growth . Only in June, exports to the biggest market of Vietnam's shrimp Japan rose 7.9% from the same period last year. This is the 4th consecutive month of export shrimp to this market growth, overall 6 months increased by 6.6% to 293.9 million.

Apart from Japan, the export price of Vietnam in the United States also had high growth rates, if in January 1/2013, prawn HLSO price is US size 16/20 $ 5.20 / pound by the end of June rose to $ 6.10 / pound. Generally in the first 6 months of this year Vietnam shrimp exports to the US reached 252.3 million, up 22.4% from the same period last year.

According to the Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors Vietnam, the proportion of white shrimp exports in the first 2 quarters accounted for 41.3%, reaching nearly 456 million USD; while prawn proportion of 50.8% and grossed over $ 560 million. Reportedly, prawn yields 6 months reached 80,000 tonnes, down 27.1% from the same period last year, while production reached 20,000 tons of white shrimp, up 33.3%.
